TEX•COTE® Products Coat Control Tower

The nation’s second-tallest control tower is under construction at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina. Scheduled to open in 2020, the soaring state-of-the-art FAA tower is erected and now being protected for the ages with industry-leading architectural coatings manufactured by Textured Coatings of America, Inc.

 

Protecting the Structure

 

More than 700 gallons of TEX•COTE® products will cover the 370-foot-high structure. The TEX•COTE® products that are being applied to this structure include: XL 70® “W” PRIMER (a water-based primer), TEX•COTE® 600 Textured Coating in a smooth texture, TEX•COTE® COOLWALL® Classic Primer in a smooth texture, and TEX•COTE® COOLWALL® SUPER-COTE™ in a satin finish. All of these TEX•COTE® products are going into covering the facility’s 69,000 square feet of exterior wall space.

The North Carolina Control Tower story was featured in Coatings World and various publications have released stories about TEX•COTE® products, describing their quality, durability, and sustainability. Publications worldwide have highlighted our brand to inform architects, engineers, contractors, and homeowners about our green products.

Final Inspections

 

At Charlotte International, the TEX•COTE® team is in the process of final inspections on the project. Mr. Dick Barnes added, “It’s looking great. Everything is being done right, as we’d expect, to keep the tower and the administration building well-protected for decades.” Textured Coatings of America, Inc. is excited to see the completed control tower and we look forward to seeing its vibrancy throughout the years.
