Answers to Common TEX•COTE® Questions

TEX•COTE Questions

Stuart Haines, President of TEX•COTE®

Do you have questions about TEX•COTE® products and don’t know the answers? We’ve gathered a few of our frequently asked questions from homeowners to help you better understand our products, company, and services. In this week’s blog, Textured Coatings of America, Inc. provides answers to these key questions.

What colors do TEX•COTE® products come in and can you match a specific color?

We offer over 952 vibrant colors. We have the color you are looking for and can color-match specific shades for your home, structure, or commercial building.

How much will TEX•COTE® COOLWALL® change the temperature in my home or building?

Not only is TEX•COTE® COOLWALL® on average 10 times thicker than ordinary paint, but it also contains special reflective pigments. These are the same type of pigments used by the U.S. Government to cool ships and provide both reflectivity as well as reduced radar signature in Stealth Bombers. Due to our products’ ability to reflect light, these pigments can lower surface temperatures by as much as 40° F when compared to traditional paints and coatings in a variety of colors.

How long has TEX•COTE® COOLWALL® been around?

Textured Coatings of America, Inc. is a family-owned business that has been manufacturing high-performance, quality coatings in the U.S.A. since 1961. We are proud of our legacy and our commitment to sustainability.

How much money can I expect to save on my energy bills?

Our flagship product, TEX•COTE® COOLWALL®, was tested and proven by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory to reduce cooling costs by up to 21.9%. Both homeowners and building owners can look forward to energy savings and efficiency in using our products.

Does TEX•COTE® COOLWALL® have an R-value and what is it?

TEX•COTE® COOLWALL® does not work by an insulation process; thus, it does not have an R-value. R-value is simply the resistance of heat flow. Instead, TEX•COTE® COOLWALL® reflects the infrared energy from the sun, so that the wall does not become as hot initially. This substantially reduces the amount of heat that the fiberglass or other types of insulation need to keep out. By increasing solar reflectivity in the entire color spectrum, TEX•COTE® COOLWALL® can reduce surface temperatures and cooling costs.
