TEX•COTE¨
SACRIFICIAL GRAFFITI GUARD¨ SYSTEM

Sacrificial Graffiti Guard¨ System is a specially formulated and blended water based resin for optimum performance as a protective sacrificial system over new or previously painted substrates.

I. RECOMMENDED OVER

Concrete, metal, cement, plaster, wood, block, brick and other manufacturer approved surfaces.

Note: masonry, including mortar, concrete and cement plaster, must be cured a minimum of 28 days prior to applying the Sacrificial Graffiti Guard¨.

APPLICATION/EQUIPMENT

Sacrificial Graffiti Guard¨ System may be rolled on or applied with commercial grade spray equipment such as Graco EH-333 with maximum tip size .017. Application rates will vary with the porosity of the substrate from 150-250 square feet per gallon. The applicator must create a continuous pinhole-free film.

II. LIMITATIONS

  1. Sacrificial Graffiti Guard¨ System shall be applied under ideal weather conditions.
  2. Rain is not imminent, surfaces are not wet or frozen.
  3. Temperature is within 50¿ to 100¡F range.
  4. All incompatible form oils, release agents, chalking paint and laitance must be removed prior to application.
  5. Retaining walls, planter boxes, etc., should be waterproofed with a below grade asphalt type sealer on side of wall exposed to back-fill.
  6. Sacrificial Graffiti Guard¨ System is for above grade only. Do not use below grade or on horizontal surfaces exposed to bonding water.

III. SURFACE PREPARATION

All surfaces must be sound and cleaned. Old painted surfaces should be properly adhered to the substrate. Surface contaminants such as dust, environmental dirt, mildew, form oils and loose substrate shall be thoroughly removed with the use of waterblasting, sandblasting, wirebrushing, scraping, as approved by manufacturer.

Graffiti marred surfaces may need to be treated with Graffiti Stain Blocker and Graffiti Gard¨ Pigmented Ty-Cote, prior to application of Sacrificial Graffiti Guard¨.

Murals, logos, or wall treatments that may be sensitive to hot waterblasting should be protected with Graffiti Gard¨ Clear Ty-Cote, prior to the application of Sacrificial Graffiti Guard¨.

Allow a 24 hour cure of the Ty-Cote prior the application of the Sacrificial Graffiti Guard¨.

IV. APPLICATION OF SACRIFICIAL GRAFFITI GUARD¨ SYSTEM

A sample wall is recommended for field approval by architect, manufacturer's representative and contractor.

Provide a properly prepared, dry surface for the Sacrificial Graffiti Guard¨ System.

  1. Inspect opened container, mix thoroughly prior to each application.
  2. Apply a uniform pinhole free, continuous film over entire surface.
  3. If runs or sags occur, immediately brush them out to even the film.

CLEAN-UP

Wet material use water. Dry material use mineral spirits, xylol, or most paint thinners.

V. REMOVAL OF GRAFFITI ON THE SACRIFICIAL GRAFFITI GUARD¨ SYSTEM

  1. Hot waterblast using 180¡-190¡F hot water at 800900 P.S.I. pressure.
  2. Proceed from top to bottom allowing the temperature of the water to heat the wall and the pressure to carry away the graffiti. Clean all graffiti in this fashion. Note all areas in which graffiti was stripped.
  3. Allow the stripped areas to damp dry. Then apply a fresh coat of Sacrificial Graffiti Guard¨ System in a uniform, pinhole-free, continuous film. Overlap slightly the previously coated surface not removed by hot waterblasting.
  4. Sacrificial Graffiti Stripper - a mild solvent cleaner that may be used on small areas where a hot waterblast is not accessible. The cleaner should be rinsed or wiped clean with water immediately after being used.
  5. Reapply Sacrificial Graffiti Guard¨ System as in step #3.

Note: Follow the OSHA guidelines for protective clothing, glasses, gloves or respirator as required.
