Another line of TCA special purpose primers are the XL-70¨ Products. XL-70¨ Primer and SlushCote are ready-to-use where damp, uncured cementitious surfaces are common, or where excessive amounts of alkali are present in the substrate. XL-70¨ Primer is used over concrete, cement plaster, or brick. XL-70¨ SlushCote fills block systems and properly applied (see broom/brush in technique) XL-70¨ SlushCote provides the proper surface for TCA Coatings such as TC600, TC100, TC300, XL-70¨ Textured Coating or TCA Stretch Elastomeric. This product line is a solvent based vinyl toluene acrylic (VTACL) Material.

CONTAINERS/SHELF LIFE
- 5 gallon containers, 30 gallon drums
- Shelf life, 12 months, based on following: Containers shall be stored upright and air tight in cool, dry place at temperature of 45¡F and not exceeding 100¡F. AVOID FREEZING. Skins formed on surface of material must be removed prior to moving containers, mixing or using.
SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces must he sound and clean prior to priming. Surfaces may be damp, but not wet with liquid water. Such contaminants as dust, dirt, mildew, form oils, loose substrate shall he removed. Large cracks, holes and voids must be filled with cement patching compound and TCA's
TEXBOND Cement Adhesive. Texture of patch shall match existing surface. Cracks over 1/16" and no greater than 1/8" shall be filled with TCA's FlexPatch. Interfacing wall joints shall be sealed with polyurethane type sealant.
Special preparation, block systems:
Mason shall lay blocks evenly and level to exterior side of wall. Mortar joints shall be flush and not raked. Cracks in mortar shall be sealed prior to application of XL-70¨ SlushCote. Blocks shall be waterproofed below grade with asphalt type sealer.DRYING/CURING/EXPOSURE TIMES
- To Touch: 24 hours
- Recoating: 24 hours, minimum
- Exposure: 4 weeks
Re-prime surface if exposed to ultra violet more than 4 weeks. Above times under ideal weather conditions. AVOID FREEZING.
APPLICATION RATES
- Primer XL-70:
- Smooth concrete 275-300 square feet/gal.
Depending upon surface porosityCement Plaster 150-175 square feet/gal.
- XL-70¨ SlushCote:
- All Block Systems 50-75 sq. ft,/gallon
depending on porosity.- Note 1: Mix thoroughly before using.
- Note 2: Can be used over damp, not wet with liquid water.
- Note 3: Coverage depends on surface porosity, roughness.
RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT, APPLICATION SYSTEM
Primer XL-70¨:
Apply by roller, brush or commercial grade airless spray equipment.XL-70¨ SlushCote:
May be applied with a Graco 10:1 president pump and a Graco 204-000 gun having a 3/16" tip. Must be brushed or broomed into pores of blocks with medium stiff bristle brush or broom. Fill all voids and pores.
- Note 1: NO THINNING REQUIRED.
- Note 2: Allow 24 hours dry under ideal weather prior to coating.
- Note 3: Apply at 45¡F and not above 100¡F. Don't apply if rain is imminent.
LIMITATIONS, ALL PRODUCTS
- Surfaces shall he free of dirt, oil, release agents and any foreign matter that could interfere with adhesion of the primer.
- Products must be used within shelf life & stored as described herein.
- Remove all skins from top of material prior to moving containers, mixing or using.
- XL-70¨ products must be mixed thoroughly prior to using.
- Roof & parapet top caps must be installed and sealed with a continuous metal cap, min. 4 in. leg on exterior side, prior to priming. All openings shall he sealed against water penetration.
- Primer & Slush.Cote shall not be exposed to ultra violet more than 4 weeks prior to coating, or surfaces shall be re-primed.
- TCA Products are not for use below grade.
- Retaining walls, planters, any below grade surfaces shall be waterproofed with asphalt sealer.
- CAUTION: These products, in liquid form, contain Petroleum Distillate, which will cause serious illness or death if swallowed, or large quantities absorbed. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting, call physician immediately.
