TEXCOTE¨ Elastomeric Roof Coating is a high solids latex acrylic coating formulated to impart superior resistance to ponding water conditions. It has excellent adhesion to fresh urethane foam, conventional bituminous built-up roofs, asphalt roof shingles, galvanized metal, aluminum, concrete, cernentitious and clay tile. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide have been compounded into the fillers to insure protection from ultraviolet and infrared sun rays. For mildew protection, a non-mercurial system is included. Dry film permeability permits breathing of the membrane which allows moisture vapor pressure from the substrate to escape through the coating. TEXCOTE¨ elastomeric roof coating has long-term durability and long lasting flexibility even at low temperatures.
RECOMMENDED OVER
Freshly sprayed urethane foam (fiat or pitched)
Bituminous built-up roofs (flat or pitched)
Asphalt roof shingles
Galvanized metal (fiat or pitched)
Aluminum (fiat or pitched)
Cementitious and clay tile
APPLICATION RATES - TWO COAT SYSTEM
TEXCOTE¨ Elastomeric Roof Coating I - Base Coat (Gray)
Apply at minimum 1 1/2 gals. per 100 sq. ft. to produce minimum dry film thickness of 13.1 milsTEXCOTE¨ Elastomeric Roof Coating II - Top Coat (Bright Reflective White)
Apply at minimum 1 1/2 gals. per 100 sq. ft. to produce minimum dry film thickness or 13.1 mils.Do not apply over damp or frozen surface or if rain is imminent. Agitate well prior to use.
DRYING/CURING TIMES
TEXCOTE¨ Elastomeric Roof Coating I - Base Coat:
Shall dry a minimum of 24 hours under ideal weather conditions before applying part II (Top Coat)TEXCOTE¨ Elastomeric Roof Coating II - Top Coat Dry time under ideal conditions:
Dry to touch - approximately 2 hours
Cure Time - 24 hours to foot traffic or to inclement weather.RECOMMENDED APPLICATION EQUIPMENT
TEXCOTE¨ Elastomeric Roof Coating can be applied with the following equipment or equivalent:
- 30:1 Graco Bulldog Airless Model GH533 gasoline powered, or model 217234 Air powered with minimum 100 psi to operate.
- Fluid pressure for spraying TEXCOTE¨ Elastomeric Roof Coating should be minimum or 2500 psi
- For spray lines up to 200 ft., use 3/8" I.D.
For spray lines above 200 ft., use 1/2" I.D. with 50 ft. of 3/8" I.D. at end connecting spray gun to obtain line flexibility.- Gun should be Graco Model 208664, 4-finger trigger model, or equivalent, with reverse cleaner Graco #RAC-111.
- Tip size should be 0.023" to 0.035"
- Screen size - filter screen 20 to 30 mesh
Alternate methods of application, depending upon configuration of surface are:
Brush, roller or squeegees.Note: TEXCOTE¨ Elastomeric Roof Coating has been sprayed using conventional airless Graco Model EH433GT. Hose I.D. 1/4"; Silver Airless Gun Graco 208-633. Filter size 60 mesh. Slight fingers noted in spray pattern, but acceptable.
SURFACE PREPARATION/APPLICATION
- Urethane foam: the TEXCOTE¨ Elastomeric Roof Coating System should be applied to the fresh urethane foam as soon as foot traffic permits without causing depressions. Depending on weather conditions, this can be 4 hours and no longer than 24 hours after foam application.
- Flat roofs and spud roofs: clean and patch all cracks in surface using neoprene or equal. Imbed fiberglass tape into the patch. Note: All leaks must be properly sealed before applying TEXCOTE¨ Elastomeric Roof Coating.
- Asphalt shingles, concrete, cementitious brick tile: clean surfaces thoroughly to remove environmental dirt. Mildew and algae must be killed and residue removed. Roof cracks, leaks must be repaired according to proper roofing procedures.
- Old galvanized metal or aluminum: remove environmental dirt, scale and loose paint by wire brushing or suitable alternative. Rust spots should be spot primed with exterior zinc chromate or red lead primer and allowed to cure minimum overnight under ideal conditions.
- New galvanized metal or aluminum; refer to TCA "REDITEX" Treatment before applying MET-1297.html elastomeric roof coating according to foregoing instructions.
CLEAN-UP/CONTAINER SIZE/SHELF LIFE
- For wet material use water; for dry material use xylol or toluene
- 5 gal plastic pails; 30 and 55 gal lined drums
- Six months in unopened containers, based upon following conditions:
Containers shall be stored upright in a cool dry place with temperature no less than 45¡F and no more than 100¡F. AVOID FREEZING.- Skins that may form on surface of material must be removed prior to moving or mixing.
LIMITATIONS
- Do not apply over frozen or damp surfaces or if rain is imminent.
- Avoid freezing
- Urethane foam must be coated within 4 to 24 hours from application of urethane.
- Air temperature during application should be no less than 45¡F and rising.
- Product must be used and stored as described herein.
