BLOCK FILLER 1098

TCA Block filler 1098 is a pigmented vinyl toluene base resin system formulated to provide filling and damp proofing properties to masonry block systems. Meets Federal Specification T.T.F 1098D.

Note: May be applied over uncured, but not damp surfaces which are untreated.

EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATIONS

Conventional airless spray, brush or roller.
Note: It is recommended that recessed mortar joints be brushed since spray application may not completely treat them.

DRYING/CURING TIMES

Allow 24 hours drying time under ideal weather conditions prior to coating or between coats.

CLEAN UP/CONTAINERS/STORAGE

  1. Clean up wet or dry material with mineral spirits, xylol or toluene
  2. 5 gallon containers, 30 gallon drums
  3. Shelf life, 12 months, based on following:
    Containers shall be stored upright and air tight in cool, dry place at temperature of 45¡F and not exceeding 100¡F. AVOID FREEZING. Skins formed on surface of material must be removed prior to moving containers, mixing or using.

APPLICATION OF TCA BLOCK FILLER

  1. Thinning is not necessary. Use as-is.
  2. Apply at 50 to 80 sq. ft/gallon depending on surface porosity and texture.

SURFACE PREPARATION/GENERAL

Mason shall lay blocks evenly and level to exterior side of wall. Mortar joints shall be flush and not raked. Cracks in mortar shall be sealed prior to application. Blocks shall be waterproofed below grade with asphalt type sealer.

All surfaces must be sound and clean prior to application. Surfaces may be uncured but not damp. Such contaminants as dust, dirt, mildew, form oils, loose substrate shall be removed. Large cracks, holes and voids must be filled with cement patching compound and TCA's TEX•BOND Cement Adhesive. Texture of Patch shall match existing area. Cracks over 1/16" and no greater than 1/8" shall be reed and filled with Flex•Patch. Interfacing wall joints shall be sealed with polyurethane type sealant meeting Fed. Spec. TT-S-23011.

LIMITATIONS

  1. Application temperature shall be above 4S¡F and below 100¡F.
  2. Do not apply if rain is imminent, or over damp or frozen surfaces. Avoid freezing product.
  3. Roof and parapet top caps shall be installed and sealed prior to application. Top cap shall be a metal continuous unit with 4 inch exterior leg. All openings shall be sealed against water penetration prior to application.
  4. Not recommended for use below grade. Use asphalt type sealer for retaining walls, planters, below grade surfaces.
  5. Products must be used within shelf life and stored as described herein.
  6. Shall not be exposed to ultraviolet more than 4 weeks prior to coating. Surface shall be re-primed after 4 weeks exposure
